Production Process of Aluminum Rods

  • Melting & Casting: Pure aluminum or alloy is melted, alloying elements added, and then cast into billets via semi-continuous or continuous casting.

  • Homogenization: Heat treatment to relieve internal stress and ensure uniform grain structure.

  • Extrusion: Billets are heated to 400–500°C and extruded into rods via extrusion presses.

  • Heat Treatment: Depending on the alloy type, processes like solution treatment and aging are performed to enhance strength and hardness.

  • Surface Treatment: Anodizing, coating, electrophoresis, etc., to improve corrosion resistance and aesthetics.

How to Choose the Right Aluminum Rod

Based on Strength Requirements: Choose 7000 series for high strength (e.g., aerospace), 6000 series for medium strength (e.g., construction).

Based on Corrosion Resistance: 5000 or 6000 series is ideal for marine or chemical environments.

Based on Machinability: For complex machining, 6063 and similar alloys offer excellent workability.

Based on Budget: 1000 series is the most cost-effective; high-strength alloys tend to be more expensive.
