The selection of pharmaceutical packaging materials is directly related to the quality and storage safety of the drugs, and aluminum foil has become one of the preferred materials for pharmaceutical packaging due to its excellent barrier properties and stability.

There are currently two main types of pharmaceutical aluminum foil materials on the market, mainly 8011 pharmaceutical aluminum foil and 8021 pharmaceutical aluminum foil.

Aluminum foils used for pharmaceutical packaging usually include the following: PTP aluminum foil, aluminum cold-formed aluminum foil, aluminum-plastic composite material, aluminum strip foil, tropical blister foil, pharmaceutical PVC,pvc/pvdc, and pharmaceutical bottle cap foil. These types of pharmaceutical aluminum foils have different characteristics depending on the processing technology and the added alloy materials.

PTP aluminum foil: also known as pharmaceutical board aluminum foil and capsule aluminum foil, it has good sealing, moisture-proof, light-proof, and oxygen-proof properties. It is pressed and formed, and blister packaged. The main material is 8011-H18 or 8011-O aluminum foil. The thickness is between 0.016 and 0.04 mm.

Cold-formed pharmaceutical foil: also known as cold aluminum, mainly made of 8021-O aluminum foil, processed by cold forming process. Medicinal aluminum foil has very good performance, especially ultra-high barrier properties, and is generally used for high-end, tightly sealed moisture-proof and light-shielding pharmaceutical packaging. The thickness is 0.04-0.065mm.

Double aluminum easy-tear film: also known as easy-tear aluminum, also known as soft double aluminum, has good steam barrier, oxygen barrier, UV resistance, and fragrance resistance. Generally used for local protection or independent pharmaceutical packaging.

Tropical blister foil: Tropical aluminum blister packaging is a packaging form specially developed to enhance the barrier properties of aluminum-plastic blister packaging. A layer of cold-pressed aluminum foil is added to the outside of the thermoformed plastic blister and PTP foil. It is the most high-end aluminum foil package in pharmaceutical packaging. 8021-O foil and 8079-O foil are two common choices. Suitable for pharmaceutical packaging with extremely high requirements for moisture, light and oxygen

Medicinal PVC PVC/PVC hard sheet: Medicinal PVC can be used to make tablets, capsules, pharmaceutical packaging, etc., with moisture-proof and anti-oxidation properties. The general thickness is 0.15-0.50mm and the width is 60-900mm.

Aluminum foil for medicine bottle caps: also known as aluminum foil material for medicine bottle caps, mainly made of 8011-H14 aluminum foil or 8011-H16 aluminum foil, widely used in bottled liquids such as oral liquids, antibiotics, and infusions.
